farmOS Hosting, Support, and Development

Welcome, Benjamin James Stenta!

Newsletter Issue 17 -  October 11th, 2016

Greetings farmOS followers!

First, I have some very big news to share: my wife and I welcomed our first baby into the world on Thursday!  His name is Benjamin James Stenta.  We are both overjoyed - and exhausted - as we settle into our new life together as a family.  I can tell it will be an amazing adventure - I'm sure many of you know it well.  We are learning so much already (and trying our best to get some sleep).  :-)

I decided to cancel tomorrow's monthly farmOS call, as I will probably not be able to give it my full attention.  I will be back for the next one, on November 9th, 2016 at 1pm EST / 6pm UTC.  For more information, see

In lieu of the Goolge Hangout, I encourage anyone who is interested in talking about farmOS to join the #farmOS chat room on Freenode tomorrow at 1pm.  I will try to poke my head in for a bit if I can.  The chat is logged, so feel free to ask questions and I will respond when I can (make sure to leave an email address, or leave the chat open and check back later).  You can also email me via the Farmier contact form.

New Developments

In other news, there has been some great activity in the farmOS issue queues, with a number of new folks joining the development process!  It's very exciting to see and I look forward to working together into the future!  Yay open source community development!

We are currently working on creating a Docker image for farmOS, which will make it easier for folks to install it locally - both for development, and local hosting. I have a plan for it, and hope to have some time to finish working on it soon. If you are interested in following along, here is the GitHub issue:

Until next time, happy farming!
